Need a pick-me-up for the Monday doldrums? Forbidden Bingo, featuring Day-Glo-coiffed DJ Rockstar Aaron, was a Monday-night standby for the past few years at Maloney’s Tavern, drawing crowds to the bar for some sexy fun and great deals. But now it's picking up and moving on to the Marion Street Tavern.
Why is Forbidden Bingo so forbidden? “There are two reasons,” notes Rockstar, who co-hosts with bingo caller extraordinaire Rich Demarah. “It’s the first bar bingo in LoDo, and the prizes are so naughty that some would say they are forbidden.”
Rockstar, who’s already a bingo aficionado and therefore thought the game would be a good addition to the trendy downtown bar-and-club district, adds that half the prizes given out for the ten games are items from Denver smut shop Romantix (the rest seem to involve free drinks). That should explain everything.
“Forbidden Bingo at Marion Street will be the busiest spot in Denver on a Monday, so my advice to anyone attending is to arrive before 7 p.m. to secure a seat. We fill up really fast,” Rockstar says. “The thing that sets us apart from other bar bingos in town is our quality, and the amount of prizes we give away each week."
The ongoing Monday-night event also includes drink specials, cupcakes from Le Bakery Sensual and other good stuff from 7 to 10 p.m. weekly; there’s no cover, and it’s free to play. Live dangerously: Marion Street is at 1223 East 13th Avenue. Go to http://marionstreet-tavern.com/ or call 720-638-2461.
