Denver is full of cool, out-of-the-way places and fascinating people, but some of them are hard to discover on your own. That’s what the city’s newest storytelling event, Raconteur Denver, is for.
“We love people’s stories and we also love Denver, so we wanted to create something to bring people to places they may not have gone yet, and to hear stories from people from all walks of life,” explains Raconteur co-curator Amber Blais. “Everyone is human, and they all have their stories, so this is a chance to hear people you may not have heard before.”
Every other month, the event will move to a new location, introducing people to Denver’s coolest places and putting some of its most interesting people on stage to tell stories. Each month will have a theme, all centered around various “firsts,” with three carefully selected storytellers. Afterward, audience members will have a chance to share their own stories, and the results will be turned into a podcast to help spread the word.
It starts January 12 at 7 p.m. at the Denver Bicycle Cafe, 1308 East 17th Avenue; admission is free. For more information, including a list of speakers and topics, visit raconteurdenver.com.
