Westword: What is Porn and Chicken, and what does it mean to bring the show?

Dom Brown: Pretty much, Porn and Chicken is a dance party we throw in Chicago, and we also throw the party in a couple different states. We do Porn and Chicken in Honolulu four times per year, and there was a point when we were doing it in Denver four times per year. We hit a point where we weren't doing it that much, and it's one of our friend's birthdays, so we are coming back out and bringing the party. Porn and Chicken is basically just soft-core or hardcore porn playing while we serve some fried chicken, and we just party as hard as possibly can.

How did it come together? Is it geared towards a certain genre or is it just a full on party?

Orville Kline: We cater the music to the party. It depends. We cover a lot of different genres, whether it's electro, dubstep, trap or really whatever. If we are playing a tech-house party, we play tech-house. Sometimes we play a lot of drum-and-bass, but it really depends on the crowd and the venue. We aren't opposed to any kind of music.

Have you ever caught any flack?

Oh man, come on, of course.

What do you say to that?

DB: You take it with a grain of salt. Not everyone is on-board with the forward movement we are trying to do. It's a big in-your-face thing. We don't conform. When you book Porn and Chicken, we are gonna bring exactly that.

Have you ever been booked for a gig, and the promoters didn't know what they were getting?

DB: I think the thing about it is, we set the precedent that when you hear Porn and Chicken, you know exactly what you are going to get.

OK: When you look at the name Porn and Chicken, you know what you are getting into. There have been a lot of places that have cancelled the booking, or booked it and realized it may not work for them. Usually that gets cleared up beforehand, so no one is really surprised when we show. It's usually worked out.

There are some cities and towns that are a lot more bible-belt-yielding that are anti-porn, and completely against us, so they won't even book us, or want to be associated with that name. But, for every town that doesn't want us, there are ten other places that do, so it's not really that much of an issue.

It sounds like you've cornered the market?

DB: We are definitely the first ones to do it.

Have you put a lot of artists on from the Chicago house scene?

DB: Every Monday, we give artists the opportunity to play the number one dance party in Chicago, and we have our resident DJs...

OK: ...and there is usually three other guest DJs from Chicago, and even a lot of touring DJs that come through Chicago and are off on a Monday night will come through and play. We work with a lot of the DJs, and a lot of people, so we are pretty diverse. For example, we were the first people to book Krewella in Chicago before they played anywhere else. They played our party two or three times a couple years ago, and then all of the sudden, it's like almost impossible to book them. There are a lot of artists that have come through and played with us.

DB: We definitely put [Krewella] on a pedestal in Chicago.

What can we expect, aside from the obvious, when you come to Denver?

OK: Well, it's Paul Anthony's birthday, and it's his party, and [he] wants us to be there to party with him.

DB: We're going to do a DJ set, and we've added some elements to the show. There will be lots of grinding, and a lot of champagne spraying. Just a lot of debauchery.

What's the most gratuitous thing that has happened at Porn and Chicken?

DB: Go for it. Come up with the worst thing you can think of, and it's happened. We've had it all. All the way down to dudes getting breast milk sprayed into their mouth.
