The nominees for Powder Magazine‘s 2013 Powder Awards were announced last week, and Colorado film crews — including Denver-based Level 1 Productions, Boulder-based Stept Productions, and Crested Butte-based Matchstick Productions (MSP Films) and Two Plank Productions — are heavy in the mix in just about every category, including Movie of the Year. The awards will be presented on Thursday, January 17, opening night of the Sundance Film Festival at Park City Live in Park City, Utah, and will be webcast live at www.PowderMag.com/Powder-Awards.

MSP Films marked its twentieth anniversary this season with Superheroes of Stoke, another Best Editing nominee, and earned nominations for Best Female Performance (Michelle Parker), Best Male Performance (Eric Hjorleifson), Best Line (Hjorleifson again), Best Manmade air (Russ Henshaw), Best P.O.V. (Henshaw again), and Best Powder (for a section filmed at Chatter Creek in Golden, British Columbia).

And rounding out the Colorado contingent, skiers Corey Felton and Topher Plimpton helped Two Plank Productions earn nods for both Best Line and Best P.O.V for their tandem segment in Because, filmed in the Crested Butte backcountry.
