Pop art has screamed for attention since its inception — and the Pop Art Ball, the first benefit gala at the new CU Art Museum, definitely deserves some.

The ball will feature pop art-inspired cuisine from Top Chef winner Hosea Rosenberg, as well as live music and an auction (both silent and live) that includes ceramics, art and art jewelry. “We have been fortunate to get some extremely generous art donations for the auction,” says museum director Lisa Tamiris Becker. “We have received over $140,000 in artwork. It’s amazing how people come together for art.”

But while the museum has amassed a serious collection of art for the auction, the ball is designed for fun. “We have actually invited people to dress in ball attire, pop art-inspired attire or anything in between,” adds Becker. “We hope to make it an exciting event!”

The ball begins at 6 p.m. at the museum, 1085 18th Street in Boulder. Tickets are $200 per person; for more information, call 303-492-3008 or go to http://cuartmuseum.colorado.edu/popart.html.
