The Ill Affair and the illiterate Website Launch Party are back-to-back events exploring the boundaries of love and hate while raising money for RedLine art studio and illiterate magazine. “We’re looking at these words commonly viewed as oppositional terms and seeing how they interact,” says illiterate editor Adam Gildar. “How are they similar? How are they different? How do different people define [love and hate] for themselves?”

Ill Affair starts at 5:30 p.m. at RedLine, 2350 Arapahoe Street, and includes an art auction, live music by pink hawks, Zay y los Malos and Mhamed el Menjra, spoken-word poetry and ten “fashion theater” vignettes. “The vignettes are similar to a runway show except they will have a narrative thread that explores the various themes of love and hate,” Gildar says. Starting at 9 p.m., the illiterate Website Launch Party includes performances by Paper Bird, Kingdom of Magic and PicturePlane, artist projections, a photo booth, a fashion-theater encore and Valentine arts and crafts with Fancy Tiger.

Tickets for Ill Affair are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Tickets for illiterate are $12 at the door or $10 with a flier. For more information, call 303-296-4448 or go to www.illiteratemagazine.com.
