DEBR4H

Rising Fort Collins synth-pop duo DEBR4H has steadily been making waves in its home town’s thriving music scene, as well as in Denver. On the airwaves, the band is a go-to for Channel 93.3’s local-music playlists; on stage, it has played Retrofette’s monthly dance party, Nightwaves, at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox and opened for homegrown (and former Rhinoceropolis resident, though he’s since relocated to Brooklyn) witch-house producer Pictureplane (aka Travis Egedy). The duo’s own take on synth pop skews a bit lighter than Pictureplane’s on its debut EP, Taipei Rock City, which was released and played live at Globe Hall last January. Special mention goes to the project’s title track, which riffs on Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” in its opening bars but completely divorces itself from the song’s Axl Rose origins with a candy-colored 8-bit synth line. We’re also big fans of the New Order-esque “Lit Cigarette.”
