Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
The former Grand Slam Sports Bar space at 9660 East Arapahoe Road in Greenwood Village will celebrate its grand re-opening as Slam Bar on Friday and Saturday, February 26 and 27. Jaima Manley, the bar's general manager, says the place has been completely redone, and this weekend's naughty- and nice-themed party will introduce the new VIP room, which has couches, a pool table, a separate bar and bottle service, as well as a kitchen that's open until midnight. Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. with twenty percent off all food, and Slam Bar will also host free Texas Hold 'Em tournaments Mondays through Fridays. Don't know how to play? Don't sweat it. Starting in March, the club will have free lessons on Saturdays at 1 p.m.
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
