Just because New Belgium Brewing is paying a lot of attention to its massive new production facility in Asheville, North Carolina, (slated for completion in early 2016) doesn't mean that the Fort Collins brewery is ignoring its home base. This fall, the company will break ground on an expansion project that will include a larger tasting room, 13,400 square feet of office space, and an on-site clinic for its employees and their families. The brewery had been growing so fast that it couldn't fit all of its employees in the building; some had been working in temporary rented space elsewhere. But now they will be able to come back into the fold. And finally, New Belgium will turn its front parking lot into a grassy lawn and beer garden. It is estimated that the $7 million project will be completed next June.

Copper Kettle Brewing will tap its traditional German Märzen, "donned with pumpkin pie spices for a yummy pumpkin lager," the brewery says. Pavy's Food Truck will be out with gourmet sandwiches.
Douglas County Libraries have teamed up with eight different breweries for a series of events and activities, as well as a passport program called the Great Douglas County Brew Tour. For the tour, participants can download a passport from the library district's website and then visit at least five of the participating breweries: 3 Freaks in Highlands Ranch, Barnett & Sons in Parker, Elk Mountain in Parker, Grist in Highlands Ranch, Hall Brewing in Parker, Living the Dream in Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree Brewing in Lone Tree, and Rockyard in Castle Rock. There, they can get their passport stamped; once they have five stamps, they can take the passport to any DCL location to receive a limited-edition Brew Tour pint glass. In addition, six of the breweries will tap a special beer made just for the library and host a beer author or event the same night. Tonight, you'll find Dan Rabin, author of Notes From the Tap Room, at Lone Tree Brewing. The library brew is a Pumpkin Ale.

Dry Dock Brewing will release bottles of its Signature Series Double Hazelnut Brown Ale at 2 p.m. in its North Dock Canoe Room location. The whiskey-barrel-aged beer is the third of six 2015 Signature Series releases. It will be available on draft and in bombers in the tap room and in liquor stores later.
Friday, October 2
Denver Beer Co will release this year's iteration of Neighborhood Pale Ale today at 4 p.m. This fresh-hopped pale ale was made with hops grown in Denver back yards by the brewery's customers. An annual tradition, Denver Beer Co gives out hop rhizomes every spring and asks that the harvested products be brought in freshly picked to feature in a special beer.

Falling Rock will host a tenth annual Fresh Hop Festival today from noon to 4 p.m., featuring more than forty fresh-hopped or wet-hopped beers from both Colorado and out-of-state breweries. Tickets are $40 and include unlimited beers and a commemorative glass. Get the brewery list from Imbibe.
Dry Dock Brewing in Aurora will hold its annual Docktoberfest celebration today starting at 11 a.m. at its original location on Hampden Avenue. The brewery will tap this year's Oktoberfest lager, and the Rhinelanders will play from noon to 3 p.m. Costumes encouraged.
The inaugural Rocky Mountain Oktoberfest kicks off tonight on the grounds of the Pepsi Center and continues on Saturday and Sunday. Festivities include bratwurst, sauerkraut and schnitzel, oompah bands along with other kinds of live music, yodeling, costume contests and stein-hoisting competitions. But there will also be an enormous cornhole tournament — organizers are calling it the largest cornhole tournament in the region — at which more than one hundred teams will vie for a chance to win $10,000 (first place) and $5,000 (second place). There will also be plenty of beer. But rather than rely on German breweries, Rocky Mountain Oktoberfest is focusing on Colorado craft brewers, which is a nice change, and there will be several dozen on hand. The festival runs from 5 to 11 p.m. today and resumes tomorrow and Sunday at noon. Tickets start at $15 and benefit the Brewers Educational Foundation.

The Black Project, a side venture of Former Future Brewing, will release bottles of Blueberry Dreamland today at noon. The beer was made via spontaneous fermentation, then bottled and re-fermented. "Beautiful blueberry aroma and flavor mixes well with the Dreamland base. Slight red wine barrel character, and is that even a hint of oak?" the brewery says. Each 375-ml bottle costs $12. This is a very small batch, so there is a three-bottle limit. The bottles will go on sale at noon, though people may start lining up well before that. Former Future guarantees that anyone who is in line by noon will get at least one bottle. For more details, go to the Facebook page.

Odell Brewing will partner with The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm to host a vertical tasting and beer-pairing dinner tonight at 6 p.m. Doug Odell and chef Joel Navejas will guide guests through eight carefully selected courses paired with all eight of Odell's Woodcut releases. Tickets to the event, which takes place at Odell in Fort Collins, can be purchased for $100. Only 75 are available.
Factotum Brewhouse will tap Rye Guy today at 6 p.m., when you can also meet the home brewers who conceived of the rye pale ale, Justin Theodorakos and his friend Rachel. You can meet the brewers and listen to live music.

Black Shirt Brewing will celebrate its third birthday today from 2 to 10 p.m. with a big party. It will tap a wide variety of beers, and there will be food from the Barbed Wire Reef food truck. There will also be live music and an art show.
Denver Beer Co will celebrate the harvest season from 2 to 6 p.m. today with its second annual Harvest Party at its Canworks location in the Sunnyside neighborhood. They will have a full lineup of beers, including fall seasonals and a special tapping of King Ink, the brewery's GABF-award-winning Indian Black Ale. There will also be food trucks, Canworks tours, a farmer's market and live Bluegrass music from Kinky Fingers at 2 p.m. and Tallgrass at 4 p.m. Event Entrance is free, but you can buy all-you-can-drink beer tickets at nightout.com.
River North Brewery has to bid farewell to its original location on October 24 — the building's owners are scraping it in order to make way for an apartment complex — but not before the brewery says, "Funk You," to the man. For the remainder of its tenure there, River North will host a series of events and Brett Saison bottle releases called Funk The Man, which pay tongue-in-cheek tribute to "cash over community," the brewery says. The first event is today when River North releases Funk the Man #1, aged in Cabernet barrels, which will be sold on tap and in 375-ml bottles. Funk the Man #2, featuring hibiscus, debuts on October 17, while Funk the Man #3, with black currant, will close things down on October 23 and 24. River North’s is moving to a new location, at 6021 Washington Street, where it will begin producing beer in late fall or early winter. There may be a small taproom there as well.

Factotum Brewhouse will tap Winter Warmer today at 2 p.m. The beer, a big barleywine, was conceived by home brewers Kurt Streeb and Brian Sellers. It was made with grains of paradise, bitter orange peel, cinnamon and clove.

Deschutes Brewery, from Bend, Oregon, is bringing its traveling pop-up pub to Denver today from 2 to 10 p.m., where it will set up a 402-foot custom bar on 21st Street between Blake and Larimer. Deschutes will be pouring and selling beers from forty taps and donating 100 percent of the proceeds to Bicycle Colorado. In addition to many of the brewery's well-known beers, the Deschutes Street Pub will be selling food. The brewery's chef, Jeff Usinowicz, along with Jake Grant of Euclid Hall and Carrie Baird of Brazen, will create dishes that complement the beers being served. There will also be live music and kids' activities.
Do you like chile? How about chile beers? Then head to the 17th Annual Golden City Brewery Chile Fest today in Golden, where fifteen local chile cooks will enter their finest creations into a competition (and offer more for guests to sample). In addition, GCB will be pouring its legendary Hatch green-chile beer alongside three other breweries, who will also bring chile beers. Attendees can vote for their favorite. It's free to sample chile, although GCB is requesting a $10 donation to support the Christian Action Guild Food Bank. In return for the donation, you'll get a sixteen-ounce commemorative beer glass and one free pint of beer or soda. The fest starts at noon.

Big Choice Brewing will release a beer today at 4:29 p.m. that brewmaster Nathaniel Miller has been working on for six months. OBEAH is a Caribbean-inspired imperial stout, at 10 percent ABV, that was brewed with Caribbean jerk spices and aged in rum barrels. It will be sold in 19.2-ounce cans at the brewery while supplies last, and may hit a few liquors stores. In addition, the cans, made by Germany's XOLUTION, are resealable, meaning you should be able to drink some of the beer and save the rest for later.
