Highlands Cork & Coffee in Highlands Square can now serve liquor, in addition to beer and wine. The spot was victorious at a liquor-license hearing last month, says owner Shawn Manzanares, and will begin serving drinks such as martinis, specialty coffee drinks and mojitos in the next month or so.
"We feel like we're competitive now with the other businesses," Manzanares says.
But even before petitioning to serve liquor, Highlands Cork & Coffee had at least one competitive advantage over surrounding neighborhood joints: Snuggies, which they offer to chilly patrons on their year-round patio.
