When Waffle Brothers closed on Corona Street in April last year, John Powers thought he and Rod Dupen would be able to reopen the waffle bar in its new location in just a couple of months. The gestation period turned out to be a little longer, but the new Waffle Brothers just opened the day after Christmas in its new spot just south of Speer Boulevard on a stretch of Washington Street that has seen a flurry of construction adding new apartments and businesses to the neighborhood. Photographer Danielle Lirette stopped by to check out the new, bigger cafe.

The new cafe, formerly a hair salon, offers more interior seating and a little more space behind the counter for the waffle-making crew. The opening of this location brings Waffle Brothers back up to two Denver locations, including Waffle Brothers Pub Style in Uptown.
