A Visual Tour of the Historic Burnham Train Repair Yard

The sun sets over Burnham Shops, which closed after more than a century in operation.
Denver's Burnham Shops, which have serviced trains for more than a century, closed on February 14, 2016. In its heyday, the operation could build cars from the ground up, putting its foundry, blacksmith, and upholstery shops to regular use. Housed in the yard are 25 vintage cars and an engine. Before they move to a new home, Westword was granted a tour of the historic property by owner Dan Quiat. All photos by Kevin J. Beaty.
