Carly Rae Jepsen at the Gothic Theatre

Carly Rae Jepsen at the Gothic Theatre

On Saturday, March 5, Carly Rae Jepsen performed at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, a much more intimate venue than the arenas she played when opening for Justin Bieber after the single "Call Me Maybe" catapulted her into ubiquity. Now she's touring in support of last year's critically acclaimed album EMOTION, and the enthusiastic crowd of fans seemed to know every word as they bopped and shimmied along to the '80s-influenced dance pop. Though Jepsen is a polished performer, and her voice live as sparkling clean as on record, she created rapport with the crowd, offering tidbits about the songs such as, "This one is about a Swedish boy. He didn't get it." Cardinknox and Fairground Saints opened the show. All photos by Miles Chrisinger.
