Over the weekend, the Denver Zoo hosted the latest leg of the expanded Special Olympics Colorado Polar Plunge at an event that began with a 5K race and, for the most intrepid contenders, ended with a Polar Plunge segment in a special swimming pool set up just for the occasion. Entrants could then wander the zoo for free, enjoying special International Polar Bear Day programs. Given the lovely weather on Saturday, that was the only true “polar” reference of the day.
