It was a freak show of the best kind on Saturday, October 22, at the Stanley Hotel's annual Shining Ball, where guests congregated at 7,500 feet to show off amazing costumes and dance moves before a live set by the North Mississippi All Stars. The ball is just one of the ways that the 107-year-old hotel, which inspired Stephen King's The Shining, has actively embraced the horror genre — something that our paper explores in depth in this week's cover story, "Shine On."
