The Vance Brand Municipal Airport in Longmont has a real community feel to it, with the pilots and staff there providing the only real security on site. I didn't have to show any ID, and I certainly didn't have to throw away my water bottle or pen knife.
To write this week’s cover story, “Is Everyone Hoppy?,” about hop farming in Colorado, Jonathan Shikes asked Longmont's Left Hand Brewing if he could accompany one of their two volunteer pilots on a sortie to Paonia, where they planned to pick up fresh hops for Warrior IPA, a fresh hop beer made annually. Much to his dismay, Left Hand agreed. Continue clicking for Shikes's story of how it went.
