The first homeless sweep of the year on January 15, as the city tried to prevent the spread of trench fever, a condition that also plagued soldiers during World War I.
This started off like most years in Colorado, with the traditional Stock Show parade and the Martin Luther King Marade; in February came a parade of presidential candidates. Then COVID changed everything, locking down the state even as demonstrations broke out downtown over incidents of racist policing. By the end of the year, the country had a new president-elect and Colorado had a new junior senator...but many of the same old problems, including increased homelessness.
