Look at the cranes speckling the skyline and all the snarled traffic. It's no surprise that Denver is a city undergoing a seemingly endless redesign, and it's not just big developers in on the action. Homeowners, business owners, artists and nonprofits alike are reworking how public and private spaces function.
To celebrate it all, Mayor Michael Hancock has announced the winners of the
2018 Mayor's Design Awards, honoring new projects like the
Art Alley at Dairy Block; updates on historical mainstays, like the
Molly Brown House renovation: and forward-thinking infrastructure projects, like the River North Stormwater Outfall.
“The field of winners this year is the most diverse ever selected,” says Hancock in a statement. “The list is the perfect showcase of what we can do as a city when we design with the intent of lifting up our community.”
Hancock will present the awards during a ceremony starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 8, in the
Chambers Grant Salon at the
Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The free event will be followed by a reception.
