You might not be the least bit surprised by the lengths some local shredders, industry reps, lifties, and ski instructors will go to prove their love of female breasts. Still, as Blair Young, Outreach Director for Boarding for Breast Cancer points out, “It’s not every day that you get to see guys dress up in snowboard drag for a cause.”

The Outdoor Divas shop in Boulder is hosting its 4th annual Divas In
Drag
benefit for B4BC on October 28, partnering up with the Burton
Snowboards “Save the Melons” campaign and dozens of other companies to
help raise awareness and funding for the B4BC breast cancer awareness
and education campaigns.

The $20 cost of admission gets you a pink cupcake, Oskar Blues brews
to wash it down, and entry for raffle prizes – including snowboards
from Roxy and Never Summer, lift tickets from Loveland and Echo Mountain, jackets from Betty Rides, goggles from
Smith Optics, Sherpani bags, and snow swag from Orage, Rossignol, K2, Burton, Keen, and more – plus a unique catwalk view of this season’s greatest
girl gear and the ritual sacrifice of male dignity to herald the close
of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the start of snow
season.

Outdoor Divas’ marketing director (and Divas In Drag emcee) Marily Macdonald says the shop supports breast cancer awareness efforts year round
and carries a range of pink ribbon products
, but says B4BC — a
nonprofit founded by pro snowboarders Tina Basich and Shannon Dunn —
holds a special place in her heart.

“There’s so many pink
ribbon causes out there, but B4BC really resonates with us,” says
Macdonald. “Early detection, an active lifestyle, and a little bit of
education can make a tremendous impact when it comes to breast cancer,
and B4BC really tries to target college girls, the younger snow homie
scene, and the adventurous women we work with every day.”
