Things are about to get nasty in Colorado Springs. The surging Pikes Peak Derby Dames are hungry to carve their niche in women’s flat-track roller derby, and they intend to do it on the faces of their competition during this weekend’s Four Corner Feud. The two-day throwdown will see all six squads from Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado compete for bragging rights in this, the Derby Dames’ first-ever hometown tournament.

Meanwhile, Kit Delgado — aka Kamilla BloodSpilla — of the Colorado Springs club says the Dames are ready to crack skulls: “We plan on showing the six other teams a thing or two about derby. There’s a reason we clawed our way from 27 to 17 in the nation. Our first bout is against Arizona Roller Derby, and if they think the desert is hot, they won't be able to handle the heat our All-Stars are going to throw their way.”

Them’s fightin’ words, but Delgado is sure her team can back ’em up. Regardless of who wins, the Feud promises to be fun for the whole family — as long as the whole family likes to watch furious female gladiators knock each other down for sport.

The trading of slugs and punches begins today at 3 p.m. at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium, 221 East Kiowa Street, and runs through tomorrow. Ticket prices range from $15 to $150, depending on how close you want to get to the carnage. See www.pikespeakderbydames.com for more information.
