If you’re a local climber, Christmas is coming early. Alex Honnold, acclaimed rock climber and star of the Academy Award-winning documentary Free Solo, will be appearing outside of Union Station today, November 25, at noon. Honnold will be hard to miss, as he’ll be posted up next to a giant tree-shaped stack of yellow Base Camp duffel bags from the North Face. The installation was quietly constructed yesterday but is sure to draw a crowd when the sponsored athlete arrives carrying a huge, red North Face-branded Santa bag made of deconstructed duffels.

And like jolly Saint Nick, Honnold will come bearing gifts. Visitors will have their choice between a Base Camp Travel Canister — a mini duffel-style accessory bag filled with a $100 gift card to the North Face — or the unforgettable experience of climbing with the celebrity himself. Those who opt for the latter will join Honnold at 1:30 p.m. at Movement’s RiNo outpost, located at 3201 Walnut Street, #107. When else might you get the opportunity to be coached by one of the biggest names in the sport? After the session, participants will also receive a $100 North Face gift card.

The “Happy Honnoldays” event took place in Seattle last year, with Honnold surprising shoppers with free gear at the North Face retail shop. But fans were seemingly more stoked to meet the legend who inspired climbers worldwide after he became the first to finish a free solo ascent on El Capitan, the iconic monolith in Yosemite National Park.

Don’t miss your chance to shake his hand, snap a selfie and maybe take a long lunch break alongside Honnold. Any cool boss would let this one slide.
