“They claimed that I opened up the sexual revolution. I was just doing my job, and enjoyed every bit of it,” says Bettie Page in Bettie Page Reveals All, a new documentary that tells the story of a pinup girl who remained so far from the spotlight that she was unaware of the scope of her fame.
And while her beautiful face and killer body became well known to legions of fans over the past half-century, the notorious “it” girl’s life story — and even the sound of her voice — remained very much a mystery. Bettie Page Reveals All gives devoted fans the full, uncensored picture of who Page really was: Before her death in 2008, filmmaker Mark Mori was able to get her to talk about her late-’50s rise, her sudden disappearance from the spotlight, how she found Christianity, and her battle with mental illness. Commentary from the likes of Hugh Hefner, Dita Von Teese and fellow model and photographer Bunny Yeager round out the never-before-told story of the model from Tennessee.
The film opens tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue. Tickets, $7 to $10, can be purchased at the box office, by phone at 303-595-3456, or online at denverfilm.org.
