In addition, there will be food, activities for all ages, and prizes awarded for the best USA-themed outfits in both child and adult categories.
This year, the run benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and in particular, Sophia, a four-year-old Pueblo girl with acute lymphoid leukemia. Sophia wished for her own playroom, complete with a pink swing, a rocking horse, puppets, and dress-up clothes.
“Make-A-Wish Colorado is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year and is honored to be the charity partner for the Liberty Run,” explains spokeswoman Amanda Ford. “We granted our 4,000th wish in the beginning of June and are happy to have the Liberty Run fall under our anniversary celebration and help Sophia’s wish come true.”
The race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the south end of Washington Park, 1000 South Downing Street. Registration is $35 for adults, $25 for seniors and kids under seventeen; a four-pack is available for $90. For information, go to runningguru.com.
