Painter Jenny Morgan has had a big year. She had a successful first New York City solo at the famed Driscoll Babcock Gallery, and now her work is gracing the cover of Juxtapoz magazine for September — the same month in which she has four exhibitions opening across the country. One of them is in Denver, at Morgan’s home away from home, Plus Gallery, where The Golden Hour will be the only show of the four to include new, never-before-seen paintings.

“Jenny is one of those painters where every painting she makes can be distinguished by itself and also as an extension of her career,” says Plus’s Ivar Zeile. “Those who follow her work will see nuances and subtle changes within a single painting or a body of work.” For example, he points out, Morgan’s recognizable portraiture is present in this show — but features an entirely new color scheme. He also notes that Plus will be showing one of the artist’s largest paintings to date.

The Golden Hour opens tonight with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Plus Gallery, 2501 Larimer Street, and runs through October 18. For more information, visit plusgallery.com or call 303-296-0927.
Thu., Sept. 11, 6-8 p.m.; Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 11. Continues through Oct. 18, 2014
