There are only two words you need to read to get excited about T. Rex Encounter, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science’s latest exhibit: robotic dinosaurs. The interactive dinobots, which go on display today, come in three types: a Tyrannosaurus rex, a triceratops and two smaller raptors. They’ll be accompanied by a fossil cast of the most complete T. rex ever discovered, along with two films and other activities.

“There are a lot of interactive components to the exhibit,” says museum education coordinator Samantha Richards. “The dinosaurs engage guests through tracking and facial recognition — they lock on to people and have different reactions depending on what they do.” Alongside the robots will be a number of other chances to feel like a dinosaur, including an opportunity to see through the eyes of one and to operate the tiny arms of a T. rex. The entire thing is bilingual, so both English and Spanish speakers will be able to get the most out of the experience.

T. Rex Encounter runs through January 8, 2012, at the museum, 2001 Colorado Boulevard, and, unlike some exhibits, is included in museum admission. For more information, visit www.dmns.org or call 303-370-6000.
