Mysical Child

Isis Books & Gifts on East Colfax Avenue was a place where a person could wander and not get lost; the paths to self-realization were manifold. It was a groovy shop, to be certain, but housed in an odd little building that — despite the beaded curtains and incensed air — seemed too shabby to suit its mystical wares.

That all changed in February ’08, when, after thirty years on East Colfax, Isis relocated to 2775 South Broadway in Englewood, to a storefront remodeled to resemble an Egyptian temple. According to co-owner Karen Harrison, the mix of library, apothecary and temple has found its permanent home.

Although Isis hosts monthly Psychic Fairs throughout the year, today’s New Year’s Psychic Fair is the gala event where all the best and brightest — or rather, most evolved and luminary — come together to offer their services for a mere $1 per minute. Come for an energy tuneup with the reiki healers or the chakra workers, or have your cards read to see what Tarot has to say about your future. Whatever the spirit moves, this event is sure to deliver.

The fair goes from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit or call 303-321-0867.
