If you're looking around at a lot of empty cubicles in your office this morning, chances are your female co-workers are taking a "sick" day at Loveland: The ski area is hosting a complimentary On Snow Refresher Workshop today with Warren Miller Entertainment heartthrob Chris Anthony at 9 a.m., sponsored by Pura Vida and in conjunction with the Outdoor Divas Demo Day.

This season Outdoor Divas is carrying skis from Volkl, Rossignol, Dynastar, K2, and Head, and snowboards from Never Summer, Burton, K2, and Roxy, so there should be plenty of sweet rides to choose from. It's one hell of a day for it, too: Loveland's been getting dumped on all week.

Outdoor Divas is also hosting a Wax & Wine benefit tomorrow night at their Cherry Creek store to benefit Outward Bound -- sip some free wine, learn how to wax your sticks, and meet some local ladies who rip. Heads up, gents: Outdoor Divas will also be hosting its annual Men's Holiday Shopping Nights on December 14 at the Cherry Creek store and December 15 at the Boulder store, where they're planning to ply you with free pizza and Oskar Blues brews and send you home stoked.

To plan your own winter adventures this season, don't miss The Edge, Westword's insider's guide to 25 Colorado mountains: Chris Anthony gave us directions to the pillow-line chutes at Beaver Creek featured in his segment of the new Warren Miller Entertainment flick Wintervention, and Outdoor Divas owner Kim Walker dishes on where to find the diva of your dreams at Eldora.

Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
