Beer and beards. It's one of the greatest combinations in the history of the world. And luckily for guys with facial hair who like drinking beer, Wahl Home Products will be passing through Denver during the Great American Beer Festival, handing out $500 to the man with the best beery beard -- with a chance at $1,000.

Wahl's Man of the Year contest visits fifteen cities across the country, choosing one winner on each stop. That person then receives $500, as well as a Lithium Ion Stainless Steel Trimmer and a chance to compete in the contest's final showdown, in which the winner is awarded $1,000 and the title of Wahl's Man of the Year.

The ongoing competition is part of Wahl's "Face the Day Tour," in which company barbers give free facial hair trims and tips at various festivals. For every trim they complete, Wahl donates one dollar to Movember, an organization aimed at bringing awareness to men's health issues by promoting the growth of mustaches in the month of November.

The current crop of semifinalists is fairly mediocre, to say the least, and Colorado surely has some of the better facial hair in the country. For those with a particularly hirsute countenance, this could not only be an easy way to earn $500 (and maybe even $1,000), but to yet again prove to the rest of the country why Colorado is the coolest state ever.

The thirty-foot Wahl tent, where Both the Man of the Year contest and Face the Day Tour will land, will be set up inside the Colorado Convention Center at the Great American Beer Festival, which runs from October 11 through October 13.

In the meantime: Don't shave!
