Julie Powell, the former blogger who cooked every recipe from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking and then turned her hits and misses into a book of her own, Julie & Julia, was meant to take the big stage tonight in Denver, but for whatever reason (low ticket sales?), that lecture was canceled.
But the LoDo Tattered Cover, always a savior to the downtrodden, picked Ms. Powell right up and booked her for a 5:30 p.m. event tonight, an event that will allow Ms. Powell to pimp her newest novel, Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession. And now comes word that the scribe will be stopping by Marczyk Fine Foods, 770 East 17th Avenue, today at 2:15 p.m. to spend time with the market’s butcher, Jimmy Cross. If you’ve got one of her books, bring it, because while this isn’t an autograph-signing session, we suspect Ms. Powell will happy to ink your copy.
