Aspiring remixers take note -- your chance to shine and get really drunk is here. Beta is sponsoring a remix contest for "Matt and Zane's Snarky Sloot Bday Throwdown," a party this weekend in the Beatport Lounge featuring Zane, Beekay, Fonzie and Bat Mowers in honor of Matt and Zane's annual celebration of being born. The challenge is to remix a vintage slice of unreleased rave cheese from the distant past (i.e. the year 2000) called "Feel the Disco Groove" by Matt. Turn it into whatever you like. You just have to use the "Feel the disco groove" sample and "some of the basic elements in the song." Might I suggest the tinny piano loop? It's going to be stuck in your head anyway once you hear it, may as well take advantage.
Three finalists will be selected from the entries by a secret cabal/star chamber of judges and the final winner will be chosen in by a UnNet poll. Said winner will receive a $50 bar tab for the party and UnNet bragging rights, plus the joy of knowing they've brought something beautiful into the world. The contest runs through Thursday at 5 p.m., when all tracks have to be linked to the original thread on UnNet. You'll need to be a member to post, but if you're not a member, what are you waiting for? It's free, after all. You can grab the track and get started here: "Feel the Disco Groove".
