If you haven't already been acquainted, meet B.o.B. (aka Bobby Ray, due at the Ogden with Lupe Fiasco on Thursday, April 29TONIGHT!), a dude that, if his record company has its way, will be well on his way to reaching ubiquitous status by the end of summer. Our friends at the Voice put together a rather comprehensive primer on the gent if you're so inclined.

Truth be told, we're actually more in love with the hook from "Nothing On You," another track from his forthcoming debut, B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, due out April 27, but "Airplanes," featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore is the one everyone is buzzing about right now.

Not hard to see why this track, evidently, another DJ FrankE joint (he produced it), is headed for Hitsville. The hook is strong, and so is the conceit -- casting wishes on airplanes, pretending that they're shooting stars. While it's not exactly new (Planes Mistaken for Stars, anybody?), it is clever. Add to that B.o.B.'s flow, which splits the difference between Big Boi and Kanye, and you have a song that's, ahem, prepared for takeoff. [original post: 04.14.10]
