Call me Nostradamus. Earlier today, I predicted that Brandon Marshall would skate in his misdemeanor battery trial in Atlanta — and sure enough, he was just found not guilty. Moreover, the jury didn’t exactly go into overtime. Members only deliberated for about an hour.
No doubt Broncos fans will now start pressuring the team to give Marshall a big, fat contract to prevent him from jumping to another franchise — and there’s a good chance that could happen. But the information presented in the ESPN Outside the Lines program about Marshall suggests that he’s hardly a sure bet to stay out of trouble. Just because he can afford a good lawyer doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a solid citizen. Sure can run and catch, though.
