Sorry, Denver glitz junkies: Your dreams of a high-profile celebrity wedding packed with luminaries from the worlds of sports and entertainment will not come to pass -- at least not as they apply to Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony and his longtime paramour, former MTV hostess and

reality show maven

La La Vazquez.

La La announced on The Wendy Williams Show that she and Melo are doing the marriage thang before a throng she estimates at 250-300 people, most of them likely famous, beautiful or some combination thereof. But, as you can see in the clip above, she says the nuptials will take place in New York rather than Colorado.

Same thing happened with John Elway, who got married last year in friggin' Idaho. Why can't any Colorado stars get married in Colorado?

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
