Nicolas Cage apparently got sick of Charlie Sheen hogging all the Hollywood-crazy spotlight, going apeshit this weekend in New Orleans, where he's shooting The Medallion, which sounds like another payday flick for an actor who seems more concerned about paying off his massive IRS debt than making a movie anyone with an IQ over forty would pay to see. And who came to his rescue? None other than sorta hometown hero Dog the Bounty Hunter.
According to the ABC News report linked above, Cage was busted for suspicion of domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness. Cops say Cage had more than his fill of demon liquor, after which he argued publicly with wife Alice Kim about, of all things, a rental house. He's said to have pushed Kim, but he must have been angrier at random cars, which he allegedly punched before goading cops willing to let him go into arresting him.
Top that, Charlie!
On second thought, don't.
After winding up behind bars, rather than in one, Cage was bailed out by Duane Chapman, better known as Dog, who ponied up eleven grand. Why? We reached out to Mrs. Dog, Beth Chapman, who shared the following statement:

Media from around the world have been requesting interviews with me... after reports surfaced about my posting a bond for actor Nicolas Cage in New Orleans. I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage, and will not be granting any interviews about my client, as I wish to respect his privacy. I bailed him out as a bail bondsman, and not for the show. This is what I do for a living. There are two sides of my job: I release my clients after they have been arrested; and pick them up if they don't show up in court. I do not believe the latter will be the case for Mr. Cage.
We knew Dog was tough -- but if he's still a dedicated fan of Cage after, say, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets and The Sorcerer's Apprentice, he's even more badass than we thought. Here's the ABC News clip about Cage:
