Does Jay Cutler love Brandon Marshall in a manly yet platonic, slap-him-on-the-butt-after-he-scores-a-touchdown-but-don't-let-the-hand-linger kind of way? That's certainly the impression he gave yesterday during an appearance at William and Mary's Colonial All-Pro Football Camp when the subject turned to whether Sweet Baby Jay would like BM to land in Chicago alongside him. "I played with Brandon for three years and I think he's one of the best receivers in the NFL," he told reporters. "I think he can be one of the greatest ever to play.... He's big and fast, and can do everything you want him to do, on the field and in the meeting room."
And yet a couple of posts on Cutler's Twitter feed suggest more than a bit of ambivalence in regard to a potential Marshall plan. On June 15, he wrote, "Pat Bowlen needs to send Brandon to bed without supper" -- this from a guy whose own exit from Denver capped a slow-motion, months-long temper tantrum over the idea that new coach Josh McDaniels would even think about trading him. He followed that up on June 16 with this tweet: "I would like to play with Marshall again... in Madden. Hes like a 92 in the game and totally rocks -- and um hi yeah I'm faster than a 72."

For the sake of this friendship, Cutler had better hope Marshall's more into old media than the new-fangled kind.
