The 48 Hours piece features interviews with the coroner who examined Brashers's body, the police detective who broke the case and the prosecutors who tried it. Correspondent Susan Spencer also spoke with Brashers's friends and family, including her father and her younger brother John, who spoke at Walters's sentencing a year ago as a slideshow of photos of his sister played in the courtroom. "Thanks to that man over there, this is all I have left," John said that day, referring to Walters.
Spencer also interviewed Walters in prison. "He walked in and he was real breezy and kind of relaxed, and he told us his side of the story," Spencer says. Walters maintains that he's innocent and that Brashers's death was the result of a car accident, she notes.
Below, see a preview of the show and listen to the 911 call made by Denver resident Steve Sanchez, who was woken up by the sound of Brashers's car crashing. "She's dead, I think," Sanchez tells the 911 operator as Walters wails in the background.
And tune in to CBS at 9 p.m. tomorrow for the full episode.
