The USA Pro Cycling Challenge starts in Colorado Springs on August 21, 2011, and ends in Denver on August 28, 2011. In between, the professional stage race will test a competitor's endurance as much as it test's a Colorado resident's patience... King of the Mounds: In an effort to show civic pride and enthusiasm, everyone will be wearing their favorite bicycle spandex -- from the baristas down the street to ex-Gov. Bill Ritter, Golden Mayor Jacob Smith, Richard Scharf, and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. Below, business specials will be "pedalled" to bike fans... Business Cycle: Local businesses that have nothing to do with bicycles will be challenged to think of clever gimmicks to capitalize on the race in order to attract interested residents and visitors. Below, Denver's perpetual summer road work challenges downtown time trials... Speer Ended: The final stage of the event will take place on Speer Blvd., where cyclists will be challenged to navigate a five-mile circuit of downtown Denver roadwork before the winner is crowned at Civic Center Park.
