Judging from the 140 submissions we received in our Denver Burger Battle contest -- a contest that would give one Cafe Society reader (and a guest) two VIP tickets to the near sold-out event on the turf of Sports Authority Field at Mile High on August 22 -- you people desperately like beef and buns.
In order to win, you had to guess how many Croque burgers the Park Burger on South Pearl street slung during the month of July -- and we have a winner!
This year's recipient of those VIP tickets is Amanda Benson, who came with closest without going over with her guess of 352 Croque burgers. The actual number is 354.
Amanda, we'll send you an e-mail with the particulars about how you can pick up your tickets. In the meantime, the VIP tickets are all gone, but there are still a handful of general admission tickets available for $75 per person. To buy yours, go to www.denverburgerbattle.com/.
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
