"It was supposed to be a soft opening," says owner Bill Feid. "But it wasn't very soft. It's been really busy, and we were a bit overwhelmed and understaffed. But we're all staffed up, and once we've caught up, we'll have a grand opening, probably in the next few weeks."
The new location is about twice the size of the original downtown location, at 2445 Larimer Street, with three patios -- which anyone who frequents the original spot will recognize as a good thing. The menu is essentially the same, though, as is the drink selection: There are local beers available on draft and in cans and bottles, as well as a small wine list. New to this location is housemade ice cream.
"We're really excited to make and serve ice cream," notes Feid. "Once we get dialed in, we'll start selling it at the downtown location as well."
Feid and crew are still working out some "operational glitches," he says, but the future looks hot for Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs. "It's been fun, and we're really excited to host some interesting events for the grand opening, but I don't want to give away too much," he teases. "We'll post details on our Facebook page when we're ready."
