Since 2020, Bar Nun has brought slightly sacrilegious fun to Capitol Hill (it's one of our top 100 bars), but some neighbors who live next door to the watering hole at 1225 Logan Street want the volume turned down. There have been 35 complaints about Bar Nun since it opened, largely involving sound. Thirty-one of those are from the same person.

Even so, Bar Nun's application for a liquor license renewal went to a public hearing, and the hearing officer's recommendation includes the following conditions for renewal: closing the patio at 10 p.m. on weeknights and at midnight on weekends; not dumping glass, metal or other noisy trash after 10 p.m. each night; keeping all doors closed when not in use; and marking a 25-foot no-smoking perimeter from residences with conspicuous signs that are at least one square foot in size and clearly lit.

Molly Duplechian, executive director of the Denver Department of Excise & Licenses, is currently reviewing the case before making a final decision. In the meantime, plenty of readers are weighing in with comments on the Westword Facebook page. Says Pat:
Someone in Denver complaining about something ridiculous? I’m shocked!
Offers Emilio:
I live a few hundred feet from Bar Nun and you are complaining about them? Have you heard the noise coming from the church and the two parking lots with people doing donuts and shit till 4 am? Chill out. Bar Nun is about as mellow as it gets for Cap Hill.
Adds Michael:
That's one of the reasons to live in the city, so you can walk to neighborhood spots. Sounds like Karen needs to move to the suburbs.
Wonders Bri:
Does the same person call 911 and complain about the sirens every night, too? Welcome to city living.
Notes Harrison:
Everyone says they want to live in a neighborhood with cool spots until those places inconvenience them in the slightest. The person with multiple complaints should move to the burbs where they belong.
Concludes Connor:
My only complaint about Bar Nun is the fact that it takes you about twenty minutes to get a drink unless you're a regular.
