On Sunday, September 22, DISH will dish out food and drinks from dozens of Cafe Society's favorite restaurants and trucks, as well as Best of Denver readers' winners, in the Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This year, Gaetano's will be dishing up some of its authentic Italian fare. The iconic restaurant, which the Smaldone family opened in 1947 and sold to the Wynkoop family of restaurants more than fifty years later, will be featuring plates of bocconcini de polpette ("little bites of meatball").
The recipe -- ground beef, basil, oregano, parsley and paprika -- comes from executive chef Daniel Ramirez, a Mexican-born, Italian-trained chef who joined Gaetano's last year, after the famed restaurant was renovated. Ramirez says he strives to make food that's "fresh, quality and authentic."
Taste for yourself at DISH, which runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sunday 22. (VIP ticket-holders get in at noon -- and by the way, VIP tickets are sold out.)
