Flow Juice Bar Pressing for Saturday Opening In Governor's Park

Jerry and Laura Lasco just opened a location of Max's Wine Dive, their Texas-based chain, at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Sherman Street, but they're into more than fried chicken and champagne. Diving into healthier eating as a way to combat high blood pressure and other health issues, they created Flow Juice Bar; the first one recently debuted in Houston. Now the Lascos are bringing the concept to Denver, where the second Flow Juice Bar will open Saturday — right next door to Max's Wine Dive.

Flow features bottled vegetable and fruit juices cold-pressed on-site, fresh centrifugal juices made to order, dairy-free smoothies and a few raw menu items for those looking for something solid — think salads, edamame hummus, fruit and nut bars, and cacao-coconut truffles. The entire food and beverage menu is raw, vegan (free of meat, eggs and dairy) and gluten-free, which means that everything is made from vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts.

Flow also offers one-, three- and seven-day cleanse packages (starting at $55) with nothing but juices for the shorter cleanses and the addition of a detox protein powder for the longer program. The cleanse packages can be ordered 24 to 48 hours in advance for pickup at the store.

Certified nutritionist Meg McCall, who developed the juice combinations, says there are no added sugars in any of the beverages, which instead rely on the natural sweetness of the produce to help maintain a low glycemic index. The company also uses organic produce for all of the "dirty dozen" vegetables on the Environmental Working Group's shopper's guide

Here in Denver, Flow has partnered with the Growhaus, the non-profit, organic farm in the Elyria-Swansea neighborhood. The company hopes to use greens from the Growhaus to supplement its produce list, and between May 16 and 31, if you donate $3 or more to the Growhaus at the juice bar, you'll get a coupon  for a free juice, chia bar or salad (depending on your donation amount) that you can redeem from June 1 to 15.

Starting Saturday, May 16, Flow will be open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
