Under its original plans, Houston's would be open by now. And according to the last published report, the restaurant would still open by February 2009.

But Houston's -- part of the Hillstone Restaurant Group, which also owns the Cherry Creek Grill -- will be moving into an entirely new building now under construction at Third and Josephine in Cherry Creek (where Ristorante Amore once stood), right across from Little Ollie's. And during regular Sunday night suppers at Little Ollie's (shown right, in the view you'd get from Houston's), we've noticed that construction has not been going too quickly.

So today, we called Hillstone headquarters in Beverly Hills to get a new opening date for Denver's Houston's -- which will be the fourteenth in the group.

"We don't have an exact date," said Annie Gibson. The construction schedule makes it "really questionable."

The closest guess she'd venture is "possibly April, May -- second quarter." But definitely not February. "I'd be a lot busier right now," she laughed.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way.
