The Mellow Mushroom Bake Bus will be at the Park Meadows location today starting around lunch hour, handing out free slices while they last. There are over 120 Mellow Mushroom locations around the country, all franchise operations; Shane Purcel and his family own the Colorado franchises. That's why many Colorado brewed beers are featured at all three locations, along with the stone-baked pizzas that are a Mellow Mushroom specialty, as well as appetizers, salads, hoagies, calzones. And there are plenty of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
But the new Lone Tree store has some significant differences from its siblings in downtown Denver and Centennial. This location's decor is a mod spin on the '70s, a nod to when the first Mellow Mushroom opened in 1974. The psychedelic theme includes murals, classic rock posters and even the Pizza Bandido -- a mascot that will greet you on your way in. And while you're waiting for a table, you can relax on the reconditioned ski lift by the fire pit or on one of the restored vintage metal gliders at the front entrance; there's also an indoor/outdoor bar and large enclosed patio with Rocky Mountain views.
Starting Monday, this Mellow Mushroom will serve lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
