The good people of Boulder are mere hours away from contact with the Great Green One. Yes, Michael Pollan, the Godfather of sustainability, is coming to the green mecca for a reading and book-signing at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Unity Church, 2855 Folsom Street.
You may have to watch from the parking lot, though, because the website of the Boulder Bookstore, which is putting on the event, says that it's sold out. Or you can try to bribe your way in with some locally grown carrots.
Pollan, who authored the best-selling The Omnivore's Dilemma, is currently touring the country for his newest book, In Defense of Food. I haven't read that one yet (although it's sitting on my desk), but if it's half as dense as The Omnivore's Dilemma, then it will be another huge hit. And when I say The Omnivore's Dilemma is dense, I mean it in a it-is-used-as-a-textbook-at-CU dense. I could read it seventy times and still not remember it all.
