The Flaming Lips' performance of their ninth album, The Soft Bulletin, with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday, May 26, had been highly anticipated ever since the show was announced in February. The performance proved worthy of the hype, with the CSO debuting lush orchestral arrangements of The Soft Bulletin tracks, as well as charts for the songs "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" and "Do you Realize??," all written specifically for the show. With wild visual elements thrown in as well, including lasers, confetti cannons, a space bubble and an LED octopus suit worn by Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, the show was quite the spectacle.
