Sometimes food and drink news doesn’t come from the restaurant world. This week, it came from Denver’s music scene: Musician Nathaniel Rateliff has joined forces with the owners of the hi-dive to unveil the Overland, a bar and eatery — but surprisingly, not a music venue — that will open on July 22 in the former home of Bushwacker’s Saloon at 1967 South Broadway.

But plenty was happening with Denver’s independent restaurant scene this week — like the Big Eat, where more than fifty local kitchens put out a great spread for guests at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, thanks to EatDenver. Photographer Danielle Lirette was on hand for photos of the food and fun.
