Over the past few years, this city’s comedy scene has been slowly siphoning fans away from the once-king-of-the-mountain music scene. But instead of fighting over young urbanites like two dogs battling over a dead rabbit, the Denver Fine Gentleman’s Club is fusing the worlds of satire and song in the Too Much Funstival.

“It’s all the best stuff that we want to see,” says Funstival organizer Chris Charpentier. Combining bands like Harpoontang and Bad Weather California with such local comics as Ben Roy and Hippieman (along with a bouncy castle, dodgeball, free beer and live podcasts), the Too Much Funstival promises to deliver a top-shelf range of the sonic and the silly.

Over four days, the festival will host shows at venues across the city, starting at 8 p.m. tonight at the Meadowlark and concluding at Casselman’s at 8 p.m. Sunday, with stops at City, O’ City at 5 p.m. Friday; Curtis Park at noon Saturday (dodgeball); and Mouth House at 5 p.m. Saturday. Ticket prices vary from event to event but are typically $5 or less. For more information, visit face-book.com/toomuchfunstival.
