La Loma has grown with Denver, starting as a little bungalow in the early '70s to its longstanding incarnation, a landmark spot overlooking the city. It's known for good green chile (the recipe of the late Savina Mendoza, the matriarch of one of the founding families) and enormous margaritas. Although a few items -- shrimp fajitas, for example -- have been added to the board since La Loma was founded, most of the menu has been virtually unchanged since 1973, and so serves up a real (and really delicious) culinary history. And in November 2016, La Loma began a new chapter with a move to 1801 Broadway downtown.
