Kaylee Coffman, seventeen, Golden High School student: “I’m here because I really want a place for students to come together and send a message to politicians, and I think this is the perfect forum to do so. I feel like it hasn’t sunk in yet for politicians. Just the other day, I was reading a story about one of the Parkland survivors who has been speaking out and very vocal. And this survivor is being attacked by politicians, so I think they’re not exactly taking us seriously or meeting our concerns."
More than 500 students, parents, politicians and community supporters stood up for student safety against school shootings on Wednesday, March 14, in Golden. They joined students in Denver and around the country in walkouts yesterday to honor victims of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting and push for stricter gun control.
